Training Opportunities

Post-Secondary Education:
One key reason that our students seek advanced education is Fort Hays State University (FHSU). Founded in 1902, FHSU is one of six state-assisted institutions of higher education, as well as a partner in local economic development activities.
Computer and Information Sciences represent the fastest growing enrollment at FHSU, with recent enrollment surpassing 700 students, or a 125% increase since 1994. Approximately 1,100 students graduate from FHSU annually, and almost 75% of these college graduates have a major with a primary emphasis on integration of digital technology into course work.
The University also supplies a significant number of students to the workforce who, out of financial necessity and the desire to develop credientials, work part-time, during the evenings, summer vacations and on short notice.

North Central Kansas Technical College - Hays Campus was established in 1975 and traditionally provided technical education to students in Ellis and surrounding counties.  However, with the addition of new programs and new campus facilities, the campus is growing to serve potential students from all over Kansas and parts of the southwest and south central Nebraska.
Technical education is provided in Automotive Mechanics, Business and Computer Technology, Business Management, Nursing (both LPN and RN levels) and Residential Electricity.  High school students from participating USD's may also attend programs in Automotive Mechanics.
All programs are nine months with the option of an Associate Degree in Business and Nursing.  An articulation agreement with
Fort Hays State University now allows an Associate Degree obtained through NCK Technical College to transfer to FHSU for a Bachelors of Technology Leadership.
